I Woke up on the Side of the Road
My mouth tasted like cigarettes and a night full of random liquor when I awoke. I was laying face down on the ground with my body in an awkward position which made me think I had collapsed into this very pose sometime late last night. I tried opening my eyes but it was too bright so I squeezed them tight again. My body ached. I could hear birds chirping nearby and traffic just beyond the birds. I rolled over into a more comfortable position. The world spun around as I turned and I stopped moving to keep from falling off the edge of the earth. I tried opening my eyes again. This time I could tell for sure I was outside. I was now looking straight up into the blue sky. I had no clue what time it was. Noon maybe. I felt a bug crawl over my hand and down my arm before it moved back into the grass where I was laying. It was the least of my worries so I didn’t really give a fuck that it was crawling on me.
I sat up and moved my head around to stretch out my neck. I was looking around now and easily recognized my own neighborhood. I must have passed out before reaching the condo. I better get myself home and into bed before I tumble over into the dirt again. I stood up and the world started spinning in the wrong direction again. I recognized the worlds was rotating the wrong way and luckily caught my balance. I wobbled home in a half drunken stooper trying to remember what happened last night.
